From Diane Schmidt, your About Home Editor
Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. It's probably because I love to make masks, dress up in costumes and carve pumpkins for the front walk. Of course, the chocolate and Halloween candy helps, too! So whether you have little ones at home who go trick-or-treating or you'd like to throw an adult party with all the ghoulish gruel, get into the spirit by checking out advice and tips for spooky fun from our experts.

Host a Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Party
Halloween isn't complete without a carved pumpkin sitting on the front stoop, fence or glowing from the living room window. If carving one feels like too much work, why not host a pumpkin decorating party that will not only get the kids involved but be the perfect Halloween celebration.

Outdoor Decorations for Spooky Fun
We recently moved to a another country, city and house and aren't really sure what to do with our outdoor space. We'd like to create a spooky yard that would welcome all the little witches and ghosts, but don't know where to start. So I turned to this essential guide to all things spooky and fun to find out how best to decorate our yard to create a memorable Halloween.

Free Patterns and Ideas to Create the Best Costume
Costumes have never been my forte. But this Halloween, we're attending a party with friends where, we're told, the costumes are incredibly elaborate and with one rule: you have to make it yourself. So I brought out the sewing kit and am combing through this exhaustive list of costumes I can make myself, with free patterns and ideas to inspire even the most uncreative of us.

Tales of Ghostly Treasures
Everyone loves a good ghost story. And the best ones are those that come a little too close to us - too close to where we live. That's the great thing about these tales, spun from items once owned by others. It begs the question: are any of your possessions, well... possessed?
