Happy New Year!

Every January, we make the same ol' resolutions: to lose weight, to save more money and to cut back on the pizza (a resolution I generally break by January 15th). This year, why not resolve to make your home a happier, healthier place? Check out these resolutions to perfect your pad.

Design a Bedroom for Better Sleep
One of the most common New Year's resolutions is ... drumroll, please ... to get more sleep. Surprised? Neither were we! Lucky for us, getting more sleep can be as simple as designing a snooze-friendly bedroom. Whether it's time to invest in a new mattress or paint your bedroom walls a calming blue or serene green, there are plenty of ways to transform your bedroom from home office/library/laundry room/occasional-dining-room to a soothing, sleep-inducing oasis of blankets and down feathers. Ahhhh.

Step Out of Your Design Comfort Zone
There are few things better than a beautifully coordinated, neutral-colored room. But why not shake up your go-to style in 2014? Incorporating luxe throw pillows and blankets are a super simple, affordable and reversible way to add pops of color to your living room, family room or bedroom; an eclectic gallery wall adds tons of charm to any space, while putting all of your favorite photos, art and trinkets on display; and experimenting with boldly patterned accessories can instantly kick a room's interest-factor up a few notches.

Try a Simple DIY Reno
We're calling it: 2014 is the year you finally conquer the home renovation project you've been thinking about forever. From replacing a not-so-attractive backsplash in the kitchen, to updating your wall colors, to replacing the dated hardware on the bathroom sinks, we've got tips and tricks to make your DIY reno a breeze. Now grab your tool belt and get renovating, Tim Taylor Jr.!

Buy a House for the First (or Fiftieth!) Time
Some of us may want to start the year totally fresh with a new home, rather than redesigning or renovating. Buying a new home can be a daunting task for both first-time homebuyers and veteran homebuyers, but fear not, dear homebodies! We'll walk you through every step of the home buying process and give you an e-pat on the back when you close.
